Three salesmen need a hotel room for the night and decide to share a room. The hotel clerk says a room is $30.00 a night. Each salesman gives $10.00 a piece. Later, after thinking a while the clerk feels he may have over charged them and begins to feel guilty. He calls the bellhop and gives him $5.00 and askes hom to return it to the salesmen. On the way to the room the bellhop decides since he never got tipped that he would keep $2.00 for himself and gives each salesman $1.00. Now instead of each salesman spending $10.00 they really only spent $9.00 a piece. 9 x 3 = 27 plus the $2.00 the bellhop kept makes 29 so where then is the other $1.00?

its in how you add it. Originally, they paid 30.00, they each got back 1.00, they now have only paid 27.00. Of this 27.00, 25.00 went to the manager for the room and 2.00 went to the bellboy.
