Hope is an old mix breed dog that employees at my work found tied up infront of the office with a note that said "this dog is old, put her to sleep, thanks." Well the two employees decided to save her and not put her down. When they found her she was missing a lot of hair, was severely under weight, and her skin was bright red. She has spent the last month in our kennels and even though her condition has improved, (her hair is growing back, and her skin isnt red anymore),Hope still needs to find a home with someone who will love her unconditionally, and who would nurse her back to health. She is a great old dog, very sweet, just old and needs someone to love her.
I didnt know Hope's story the first 3 weeks I starting working. I would walk back into the kennels and I always saw this poor, sad, old dog just constantly sleeping in her kennel run, there were times I thought she was dead and had to stop to check she was still breathing. After 3 weeks, I over heard co workers talking about her and thats how I came to find out how she got to my work. Now i feel even more sorry for her and want to help her the best I can. Kennel life isnt good for her, she needs a quite space, with water and good food with someone who will love her.
There is a cat rescue lady who comes to my work, and she is gonna foster Hope in about 1 week, untill then I have Hope, I took her home with me today, and right now she is happily laying on my couch thats in my screened in patio. She has lots of GOOD quality food and a big bowl of water, and lots of comfy places to sleep. And most importantly of all Hope has hope, she might just make it, and im looking for her forever home. So if anyone knows anyone who would take on this old girl and give her the love and atention she deserves, im positive that Hope will be forever greatfull, and maybe she would love life once agian.
Oh I also wanted to ask you guys another question...Im keeping her outside in my screened in patio with food, water, and lots of blankets and beds, i even put a towel over her since her rear doesnt have as much hair yet. Will she be ok outside during the night and during the day? I've never had an outside dog before. Im in Southern California by the way.
Here are some pictures of Hope, who's name was actually June, but after I brought her home I decided she needed a new name for her new life, so Hope it is, cause thats what she needs. So with no further ado, here is Hope....
Hope has such a sweet, sweet face! Three cheers for you & your co-workers for helping this lovely old gal! I hope she finds a wonderful new home for the remainder of her golden years with lots of love and spoiling!
syd, you have a big heart ! you are always doing stuff like that. i wish more people were like you. you have given comfort to that poor old dog. old age is no reason to put a dog to sleep. whoever left her there with that note was misinformed about how to treat the elderly. putting an animal to sleep because it is suffering is humane. doing it because it is old is abuse.
