Stupid Bees!

Good Lord, everytime I turn around something is happening to the dogs!  Last night hubby went to untangle Tiki from around the shrubs and he got stung by a bee (or a wasp)  We knew Tiki got either the same bee (or wasp) by the way she was rubbing her face and spazzing out.  Fifteen to twenty minutes later the right side of her face swelled up like a balloon!  I called the emergency vet, got some benedryl (per the instructions) and gave her about 50 Millograms (grams or liters a little fuzzy on that)  the swelling went down some, but 2 hours after the got the benedryl it started to swell back up by her eye!  I finally just took her into the ER they gave her a shot and gave me some actual benedryl pills.  ONly had children's liquid stuff from the neighbor.  As of four this morning she was able to completely open her eye again and now the swelling has reduced quite a bit.

I'm tempted to see if I can't get some cortozone shots or whatever to keep on hand in case Lola gets stung or has another allergic reaction and if Tiki ever gets stung again.

Any clues on where I can get some?

Poor puppy. Hope it never happens again. Maybe you could talk to your regular vet about something like that.

i'm not sure, but i think only a doctor can give cortisone shots. i do know they have bee sting kits for people .i dont know if they have them for pets also. i would talk to your vet and see what he/she suggests to keep on hand in case of any further bee problems.

Naw, just get a package of Benedrl, and have handy the amount to give. Cortizone is a steroid[side effects]...
May wanna spray the yard with garlic, to ward off the bugs.

As of right now we don't really have a regular vet.  The vet I had taken both the dogs and both the kitties wanted me to pay an extra 160 for the kitties spay even though they were getting reimbursed from animal control for the spay.  Jerks....So I'm looking at a different vet.....again....  just takes some fishing around.   I might have found one, just have to make the appointment to take them in.

I've never heard of garlic to ward off bugs....Vampires yes, but bugs?  Cool, Scary thing is I dont really ahve a yard per say.  Hubby was walking between shrubs and that was where he got stung.  Our "yard" isn't fenced in the shrubs that housing placed marked the end of housing's problem, then there is a huge open field behind the shrubs.  Soon as I get pics from the laptop transferred I'll post them to give ya'll an idea.

Yah, it is in a line of non-toxic bug repellents for stuff like edible vegis. It would be in garden stores.
I think this is kinda what I'm aiming at...
