How do I keep Koda happy???

I can barely remember a time where I only had one dog. Koda is kind of going through a depression right now and he has been looking for Kaia all morning. I want him to be happy and just be goofy old Koda, Does anyone know of any ways to keep a single dog happy?

Koda is mostly an outdoor dog, he comes in once in a while but he has problems breathing in the house so he can't stay in very long. I was wondering if there was any sort of really fun things he could do on his own. He has a Kong and a gazillion other toys, we just bought him this HUGE bone that he has been munching on all morning but I am looking for something that he can do that isn't necessarily eating (he needs to lose a few pounds! lol) I go out and play with him alot but when I come inside he just acts bored and I don't want that.

       Any ideas? Thanks!

Well, after talking about my husband and I decided that we didn't want a "rebound" dog. I know that sounds bad. But I really do not think that I am ready for another dog yet, I thought I was until yesterday.

I start Koda in Advanced Novice training on Tuesday, I am hoping that that will help him a little bit, he loves training. Wierd huh? He just loves to show off. lol

But if there are any other ideas on ways to keep him occupied when I can't be outside with him, I would love to hear it. :)

it sounds like he has plenty of toys and that isnt really helping. he is probably lonely and missing his friend. he is going through some depression over it. the training might be what will help snap him out of it. if you dont want another dog of your own right now, maybe you could foster one for a few months. he would have a playmate and you would be helping out another lonely dog until a permanent home is found.

I did think about fostering but I really think that would be harder on him because the other dog would be leaving again. I think I may take him over to play with Cheyanne today. (The pom that I rehomed with a friend of mine) He also has a german shepard friend named Lacy that he likes to see and hasn't seen in a while, I may do that. I just want him to be happy.

When trintiy became our only dog I found this toy that was a gorilla that made noises and she loves it. I think it makes her feel like shes not alone. I also gave her extra loving and I spent more time with her. This is the only thing I can think of you do have to remember koda need time to grive(sp) as well.
