I don't know if I told you guys or not, but I started training Ella to go potty outside instead of a litterbox. She's completely trained to go outside now, but she does the most annoying thing and I can't figure out how to fix it.
Since she doesn't like being outside, when I let her out, instead of going into the yard and going potty, she goes potty RIGHT in front of the back door. Its not on the inside of the door, but right on the outside. She goes literally right when I let her out, so I don't ever get a chance to go out there with her and bring her into the yard. Since she does it right there, she has to walk through it to get back inside. And not only that, but it's disgusting for anyone else that wants to go out back and has to step over it right when they open the door. I tried carrying her outside and telling her to go in the grass and giving her a treat when she goes, and I thought she was finally starting to get it because she would, so I started just letting her out on her own, and she went right back to going by the door. It's gross because ya'll know how anal I am about germs and stuff, and it grosses me out her walking through that because she ALWAYS wants to be held or is always jumping in my lap. And I don't want to hold a dog that has just walked through her own pee. Any suggestions?

The only thing that comes to my mind is to take her litterbox and put it right outside the door, the gradually start moving it farther away until it where you want her potty area to be. Once it is there, after a couple of days just put a little of the litter (without the box) in the area. This method might draw her to the area where you want her to go.
Thats a good idea Denise the only thing is that she doesn't use her litterbox anymore. I actually put it away. I just let her outside instead now. I really think the reason she goes by the door is because she is one of those typical co-dependent Chihuahuas that hates when she can't be near me, and really hates being outside. So she goes as quick as she can so that she can hurry up and come back inside. Walking away from the door and out into the yard would require too much time for her, lol. If I carry her outside and put her in the grass and stand there and wait and tell her to go, she does. But I can't always do that. Especially in the mornings because I have to get my son ready for school and whatnot. Maybe I should just put a piece of sod grass by the door so that the pee at least seeps into it and doesn't leave a puddle like it does on the cement porch. Then she can't walk through anything, lol.

Either that or keep a bucket of water nearby so that you can do a quick rinse-off of the concrete.
One other idea is maybe to have a special yummy treat to show her before you open the door and then toss it out onto the lawn. Hopefully she'll run out to get the treat & then go potty while she's out there.
