I think Sam is worth every cent! Thats a general price for all of there pups{1 year or younger!} It also comes with a spay/neuter, vaccinations, any other vet care, and also a microchip, and heartworm test. We care about our babies, and we WILL make acceptions to the distance under special circumstances! Take Sam for instance, about 1/3 of his fur was GONE when we took him in! Think about it. We are run ENTIRELY by volunteers, and by DONATIONS. Not like a shelter that kills there dogs all the time for being too old, while being supplemented by the government! Pet Haven is a small all volunteer donation supported group! Too bad there wasnt one in every city! People need to make sure these dogs are not going to leave a nice loving foster, and go off to a neglected, or abused life. Surely you know, there are crazies out there! ALSO_might I add, that Pet Haven Furkids are entitled to peace of mind the rest of there lives! They are never put down, always get the best care! And they will take um as long as we have a foster!
Well, our shelter does unfortunately pts some animals but they get anywhere from 1-20 animals a day......honestly. We only have 120 kennels........you do the math. HOWEVER, We are solely run on donations, we do not turn any animals away unless there is an extremely good reason. Most people just dump off the animal then if you do, we do not give our animals a time limit, we do provide all the necessary vet care and have our own spay/neuter clinic in our facility. The animals are given all their shots and any other medical attention they need. We have had to amputate dogs tails and legs before.......all off of donations and adoption fees. HOWEVER, we have still remained to keep our adoption costs low. Like I said in the other post, I meant nothing towards Sam himself, I just thought his adoption fee was high. We also have a ton of SUPER SWEET pits and other dogs at our shelter too.
Thats good Katz. Sounds like they can keep there prices lower. It would probably be easier to place him, if he was cheaper I supose. But in the interest of his breed type, I just dont believe in his case it would be a good idea. Someone might take him and use him for other reasons then a loving pet. There are some sickos out there forsure. A little higher fee might deture someone from using Sam for training a Fighting Pit bull! Also the fact we do homechecks, and followup calls helps as well I think will help . In our area its really not a bad price. But I see what you mean there are places you can get cheaper dogs, usually from a shelter situation, where as our rescue dogs are kept in homes of volunteers so they also recieve more socialization, and get used to living in a home situation. So that is a little added bonus I supose. They at least get started on learning about things that are no-nos in a house, and things that are ok. Did you hear anything yet Mollie?
Yesterday, I went to the pet shop where the lady is that knows the owner of the dog. She wasn't in there, so I asked her dad (I think he owns the shop) and he said he thought they found a home for her. I'm hoping it's somewhere out of this town and someone that will actually take care of her. I don't know if he gave her away or sold her. He said he paid something like $400 for her from the breeder. But the pet shop guy said that the dog was a TERRIBLE CHEWER!! He said she ate chairs and carpet and things like that. He said she ate the woodwork in the home, which sounds to me like a pectin deficiency. I won't take his word completely on it, so I called the owner of the dog and got his voicemail and left him a message to call me and let me know if he did find a home for her, since you said you'd find a way to get her to your rescue. So I'll let you know after he calls me back. Sorry so late getting back to you after we talked. Just been kinda busy.
Yeah, let me know. I hope they were able to find a good owner out of town. I have been super busy too, so don't worry. I will check in later and you can let me know.
