Hyde is limping :(

Man im so bummed. I took the dogs to the dog park this morning. After we got back about 2 hours later I noticed Hyde limping. Something is wrong with his back right leg. Im hoping he just tweaked it and it will go away. However he was on the couch just now, and as he was getting off he cried, I think because of his leg. He didnt do any serious playing today, just ran around chasing after his sisters as usual. When we got home I cleaned his feet and dried them and he seemed fine then. I put him in his crate, ran some errands and when i got back it was noticable, so i dont know when he hurt it. Is there anything I can do for him since he is in pain? He isnt crying all the time, just when he was trying to get off the couch. Thanks

Petco has dog aspirin. I would make him rest a few days, no jumping around. Crate if nessisary.  There is always anti-inflammitories from the vet.

I know when my lab tore a muscle in his hind leg our vet told us to give him Ascripten(sp?). It seemed to work.

The doctor looked at Hyde today and we determined that it is one of his toes that is hurting him. It isnt the nail thats the problem, just the toe. Im suppose to watch Hyde for two days, if it doesnt start getting better im gonna bring him in on thursday for a radiograph. He didnt give any pain meds b/c he said if Hyde took the pain meds and didnt feel his toe, then he might make it worse by running around on it. So thats it for now on Hyde, untill Thursday, I'll keep you posted on his progress. Thanks everyone!

Now I just have to keep him quite for two days :(

i think dogs are like children. some have a higher threshhold for pain than others. my peke was a whiner. she got a little owwie and you would have thought she was dying. i would just keep him calm with little or no activity for a few days and see if he gets a little better. give him a little extra lovin and smoochin. i'm sure he will be fine.  Kiss The Dog
