The owner of the pit bull called me today and left me a message, saying that he needs to find her a place by this Tuesday. He said he's going to take her to his girlfriend's grandpa's house after that, if she's not gone by then. But he'll still need a permanent or rescue place for her after that, she's not staying with the grandparents permanently. I told him I'd talk to you and give you his number to call and talk to him. It's kind of hard being the "middle man" here and I think it'd be easier for you to talk to him and find out the info that you need directly from him. Let me know what you think and I'll pm you his number. Thanks!!
So, he is not going to try to get you {or me} to pay 400 bucks is he? He knows that if she comes to Minnesota she would be going to a rescue right? And probably get the vet care that she probably also needs. I will put a call in now to my coordinater ! I will see what she says, and I will get back to you. You can Pm me the info. What is her name, have you found out? Why is he in a rush today? Did someone find out he was keeping a Pit? The more info on her the better especially when there is a waiting list for pets that are waiting to be fostered by us, so the more details the better. I think I got our Gilligan {terrier mix} pretty much adopted today after my over the phone pre-screen, Gilligans foster was so excited as well at the prospective adopter! so I know of at least one soon to be foster probably. But the sooner and more detailed the info is, the better!
He wasn't just in a rush today, he's been in a rush for quite a while to find her a place. Yes, the cops are sniffing very closely trying to find pit owners in our area and he knows this. Not so sure why he'd have gotten a pit in the first place, unless he didn't know about the law. My guess is he didn't. The guy at the pet store said that this guy had till the 15th of this month to find a different place for her but he still hasn't found that place yet so that's why she's going to his girlfriend's grandfather's house on Tuesday. I'm betting the cops did find out, as he had an ad for her in both of our local pet stores and God only knows where else. That must be why he told me that he "has to get her out of town by Tuesday". That was pretty much his exact words. So yeah, I'm thinkin she's in some sort of danger?? He doesn't want anything bad to happen to her, I truly believe he cares about this dog, so I don't want her to end up like so many others do. Thanks for all you're doing and I'm hoping that they found a home for Gilligan so Lola can have a place to stay!!
Aww- Lola is a cute name. I will help her forsure. Even if I have to foster her myself. As long as she will not be aggressive towards my kids, or dogs etc. I will call him ! I will find out all those details with Lola! You are busy I know with your own family, so your right it would be easier to get in touch with him myself. He sounds like he will be "interesting" to talk to as well ! Ill let you know what happens if I can help your Lola!
I have Sam at my house now. It didnt go well with Dorothys hubby! He said Sam is too big, too hyper, too stinky, and Sam and Timber did not fight constantly, but it wasnt totally peaceful either. He said it was too much work having Sam there. Poor Sam. Passed around again. Its not his fault his old owner never tried to work with him. I have heard about canine ADD, and Im wondering if its just his puppyhood, and lack of training. Or if some other issue. Now I really have my hands OVERFLOWING at this point. If Robbie can keep her someplace until Sam is adopted then I can get her down here. I PMd you. Let me know.
Robbie understood and I gave him my number too! Lola the Pit sounds like a sweet heart, and said Lola breaks out so bad if she has any cheap food. UMMM, isnt dog chow CHEAP FOOD? I didnt say anything, all I said " I think alot of Bully breeds are prone to skin allergies!" I said I totally understand! I see what you mean Mollie about "uneducated". I think he truely cares for Lola, he just wants to make sure she will be ok. I told him to check out Pet Havens Website. He said he would. It will be ok, as long as we can keep Lola somewhere until Sam is adopted. Lola sounds like a real sweetheart though! Good job Mollie! Thant was so nice of you to try to help! I hope you are well and I promise to update ya! Poor Pitty babies!
Glad you see what I mean by "uneducated". I know Dog Chow is a cheap food, I'd suggest feeding her something like Science Diet Sensitive Skin or something like that. That's what I feed Chopper for his allergy to beef and chicken protein and he hasn't had a breakout since. I feel soooo damn bad for this little girl!! Being taken out of her house and put at some other house and then to a foster home, but if that's the only way to save her little life, then so be it. I've thought so many times about going to the police station or wherever it is that I'd have to go to find out about the dog laws and such and see if there's some way that she could stay in town. Just because I know someone that said they had to just register their Am Staff with the city and the dog can't be outside unless the owner is with it and that's all they had to do. But I also know that Robbie's girlfriend's parents are the ones making them get rid of Lola in the first place because Robbie and the girlfriend are renting from her parents or something along those lines. I sure hope and pray that she'll be able to go into foster care sometime soon though!! Do you think even if someone else's foster dog gets adopted that they'd be able to take her?? Or take Sam from you and you take Lola?? Just curious.
I had a long heated convo with my neighbor. She may be willing to take Lola! We shall see. I told her to log on to this web tonite-she hates my boyfriend! Its his asian adopted cousin we got Sam the sweetie from, do you think he gives a heck--NO!!! i saved his cousins dog, and he could not care less! Although days before he did, now he dosnt!@ I hate men- they SUCK!
