another food question..

rocky has allergies. his nose always has a crusty patch on the one side and his eyes goober up alot. i have had them on royal canin, vp complete, chicken soup and now i,m going to try a new one. this is an allergy formula and i hope it works. its not cheap either. 25.99 for a 17 lb bag. its called natural balance potato & duck formula. has anyone ever heard of it or tried it? its frustrating trying to find a food that works for your dog. so i hope this will be the right stuff. i still give them the canned merricks too. they go nuts over the grammy pot pie. but i'm wondering if i should take it away for awhile and feed them only the kibble to see if his allergies clear up

I've used Natural Balance for Kula.  He loved it and did quite well on it.  Unfortunately, he's picky and he gets tired of the same thing all the time, hence our change over to Merrick. But recently, I've been putting the NB canned in with his Merrick kibble and he's been inhaling his food.  NB also has duck and potato treats....another Kula favorite!!

I would switch the kibble to the allergy formula and than if it didn't clear up I'd take away the Merrick's canned.

I would give Nutro Natural Choice "ULTRA", and give the puppy kibble or canned.

i will look for that next time i go in there. they have so many of the better quality foods. i saw canidae. i have heard people rave about that one. i am also going to toss the self waterer. its plastic based and could be part of the problem. their food dish is stainless steel. i notice they get the acne around their mouths sometimes. not bad, but it could be caused from the plastic waterer.

We give Lola Nutro Puppy.  I know she is a small breed, but she gets the Nutro Puppy for Large breeds, she just gets less and we keep it regulated.  That was the only Nutro puppy that anywhere carries around here in the 37 lb bag.

Mine did akright on N.B. duck and potatoe. BUT when you think about it, you are paying more for a better brand but the first and main ingrediant is potatoes, cheap potatoes. I believe the Nutro Ultra is what our rescue women told this man to get, she said it was better than what he was feeding his dog.  But then they have the other stuff too. That their shop sell. Natural Balance being one of them.

Innova really helped my terrier with his itchy coat.

Innova also has the added acidophilus.
I use lixit water bottles for 90% of their water. I have used them exclusively for years. They provide a real sanitary, constantly changed water supply.

kitty. what is a lixit bottle ? i have a self feed waterer. it has a refillable water bottle like for the water machines. i just am not thrilled that the base is plastic. i think thats why annie has occasionally outbreaks of the acne. when i tried regular water dishes they would paw at them and tip them over all the time.
