english bull terriers have always been a fave of mine they are beautifull..theres loads here stuck in rehoming centres ..many of them are only allowed to go to homes where they are the only dog ~ shame else i would have rehomed them all by now lol :)
Very Cute. Did you ask about doing a trial with him? I know that any puppy will take alot of work but I have had one deaf dog before and it was hard on everyone involved. My other animals got soooo jealous because he had to be on a leash everytime we went out. We lived in the country and the other dogs would run everywhere but the pup had a hard time to because he wanted to too but we just couldn't let him. It was a Dalmation puppy named Echo. The puppy had the hardest time with learning behaviours because he couldn't hear you say "no". I think that if we hadn't had any other animals or maybe had gotten another one later on after him, things would have been okay. The breeder let us take him for two weeks and after that we gave him back because it just wasn't the best thing for him. The breeder found him a home where he was the only dog and his owner actually went to training for deaf dogs and also she had had a deaf dog before. A maltese I think. I just hope that you guys honestly think about how much work and time this is going to be if you do it. And also decide if you have enough time to devote to him without taking away from the other dogs. One of the other problems we had with Echo was that he could not hear when the other dogs had had enough. We had to keep them seperated alot of the time. Just things to think about. Good Luck with whatever you decide!
My husband is a bull terrier nut. He wants one really bad, but I put the squelch on it. I said when the day comes that we, ( God forbid!) are down to one dog, I might consider getting one. They have to be one of the most expensive breeds of dogs out there. Here it's common to see B.T.s go for $3,000 or better.
The little Bully you're thinking about getting is really adorable. WHAT'S THERE TO THINK ABOUT???? Go for it!!!!
I agree...he is so freakin adorable...but, I just don't know if i have the time to train another "bull" headed breed. My hubby and i are both working full time, and i know we could do it...i am just not sure it would be fair to try and do it right now. It is such a great deal to though...FREE! I just don't want to be selfish and unfair to him or my two boys. I heard they are super hard to train as it is...so i want to be able to give him all the attention he needs...plus he is deaf...
I hope you do not think that I am trying to persuade you one way or another but I really suggest not getting him. I mean, only you know what is right for you guys, but everything I have said was with the thinking that you were going to be home with him all the time. I would not get a deaf puppy unless you could be with it until it was trained. I hate being the party pooper on this, I really do and he is such a cutie but it really isn't fair to him to be brought to a new place and not be able to have the time and training that he will need. I swear I wouldn't say anything if I hadn't done it myself, and I wasn't working then. It is so much work. I would love to get another deaf dog, but there is no way I can until my kids are older(alot older) and I have no dogs. Or at least until I am not working and can spend my time working with all my dogs. Does that make sense? Gosh, I feel like I am putting a major damper on the whole idea of you getting a puppy but I just want to make sure that the pup and the other spoiled dogs at your house all get to have a fair share of YOU! lol
