do dogs cry?

i was watching highway to heaven today. it has michael landon, who is an angel, and victor french. today was a tear jerker. a man and his young son were on their way home from camping with their st bernard mix, boomer. they crashed down an embankment and are pinned in the truck. the dog goes for help.well in the end, when he brings back help. they are talking about how lucky the dog came and got help. the dog had been in the truck the whole time, dead. it was the dogs spirit that went and found help. well anyways, by then i was bawling my eyes out ! harley , my gsd, starts whining . i look down and all three dogs are at my feet looking at me. rocky had head head down, but his eyes are looking up at me. annie had her head cocked to the side and her eyes were all watery  and harley was whimpering. they were worried about me !. it was touching.they all looked so sad and annie looked like she was crying ! lol

Pack sympathy.
Of course, we cry together...

If I am very emotional, I cry in their voice. It quite astounds them.
Those episodes will elicit a pack voice. That is what they were designed to do.
They are very moving.
Tears are cleansing.
Don't expose yourself to too much of that....

I know they have tears.. not sure if they are associated with the same kinds of feelings that ours are. But no doubt they can tell when we are feeling blue. I had a wonderful shinyblack guy that would sit by me in classic "sit" position on the couch with his cheek up against mine when I was upset. That feeling was absolutely priceless.

Kitty, your reply was touching. You have become one of my favorites. We've come a long way!

Yah. I agree.
I had a stud dog that did the same thing.
Back up against me, nose in the air, eyes squeezed shut... I would growl in his ear, he pretended not to notice.
His name was Dakota.
Today, Kitty and her sisters are his grandchildren... They are real smart, also...His father was a Jr. Hunter titled dog, Li'l Bad Man Bart, son of Canadian and American Field Champion, Marathon Man. Both sides of his pedigree were smart, Champion dogs, with tons of personality, however.

Dogs cry in many ways. They could whine or howl or something else. To me they do cry.

I beleive they can and do. Once when Sasha thought I had left. She could not find me. I saw her up on my bed and she had some tears running down her eyes.
