So what have ya'll asked for from your loved ones for Christmas? Do any of you make lists, or do you just give hints and suggestions? Or are there any "Eh, you don't have to get me anything" people out there? lol
Hubby and my mum keep bugging me about what I want, but I seriously cannot think of much. I want the first season of Everwood on DVD and maybe a pair of gloves, but that's about all I can think of.
What kinds of things would you prefer NOT to get for Christmas? For me it's clothes. I am the pickiest person when it comes to clothes. And I hate returning things because I feel rude, so I end up with a closet full of funky clothes that I force myself to wear when I'm around the person that got it for me, lol. My stepmum got me these jeans for my birthday last year that have fake diamonds all along the side of them..from top to bottom. And they are bellbottoms with the bottoms slit, so the jeans looked very elvis-ish to me, lol. I'm so bad ;)

I have asked for a new purse...and I already picked it out so Brad won't have any problems. LOL!!! But I don't know what else I want. I am also a picky person.
I think the worst gift would probably be clothes too...unless I picked then out of course.
Lol Paige! My hubby did something like that last year. He asked me to pick out specific outfits because he wanted to get me clothes (he feels bad because I never buy clothes for myself, I'm always using the money for the kids instead). So I did, and he still didn't get what it was I picked out, lol. He has the general idea though, poor guy, I appreciate his effort! lol

I don't usually ask for things for Christmas and I could care less if anyone gets me anything or not but this year I have asked for things. I want the ipod nano. I would have already gotten it but I can't find it in stock anywhere. There is also a cardigan I want. It's the Nanette Lepore gypsy cardigan. By the time I found it at Neiman Marcus they were out of my size but I fell in love with it. It's absolutely gorgeous. I found one new with tags on ebay the other day on buy it now for 100.00 cheaper than at Neimans. I told my hubby about it so we'll see. I actually think it's in there on my kitchen counter right now. I think it came in the mail today. I also needed some new clothes for the gym so I asked for those. Work out clothes is the one thing I don't go buy when I need them. I'll throw out 1,000.00 on an outift without blinking but the thoughts of spending 150.00 on clothes to sweat my ass off in at the gym from Dicks Sporting Goods just makes me cringe. There is also a new pilates studio in the area that I would love a membership to. Here's the link. http://www.centrepilates.net

Hubby and I have agreed not to buy eachother anything this year so we can save up to buy me a better bike and gear. I might ignore that and buy him some riding boots and a helmet cause he REALLY needs them, but he would know I spent the money seems that would cost over 600. I got a bike a week ago and it's POS, we are gonna part it out and keep that money to put towards a new bike for me. I have finally learned how to ride with out takeing chunks out of myself. I even got brave again and tried his, and I did it!! Wooo Hooo!
As for the kids well we are going all out, my sons birthday is Friday and it's his second bday, we have a room full of gifts for him, we are gonna decided what to give him for his birthday and christmas. My grandfather sent a 100 gift card to wal mart to buy him toys we will be doing that sometime this week. As for the other 2 well we have no clue what we are gonna get them yet we haven't even started their christmas shopping yet.
Stormy, my husband really wants all of us to get into dirtbikes. He has a GSXR street bike, but he has always wanted a dirt bike. That would be awesome if you got a new one! My husband has been asking for things for his motorcycle this year. He wants these side arm slider things...I think that's what they're called..lol. I found some on ebay, but I don't know how good of quality they are. I might just go to a performance shop and buy them brand new. He wanted some other stuff too that I have no clue what they are, lol. Give me a muscle car and I'm fine, but motorcycles...lol
I wish I could all out on the kids, but they are getting a few really nice gifts, so I don't think they will mind, lol. We got my son a Game Boy Advance and my daughter is still young and just wants dolls, lol. We are also getting her a bunch of dress up princess dresses. She'll have a hayday with that!

Zoe, you're so lucky. I think the most I have spent on clothes is the 150 I spent on my son when school started, lol. As for myself, I might get a shirt here, jeans there...but I seriously buy them on sale for like 3 bucks for the shirts and like 10 for the jeans. In high school I used to REALLY shop. Those days were fun..sigh..lol

Hunter, I wasn't able to shop when I was younger. My family couldn't afford it. After I got married my husband had already established his business but it hadn't taken off yet so we struggled a bit than. Things are going extremely well for us now and we're very fortunate. However, I really do watch our money and save a lot. My husband owns a computer business and the way they are outsourcing now who only knows what our future will bring. We've planned way ahead and we should be set for a while if things do go badly.

That's awesome Zoe! I hope things continue to go well for ya'll. Your hubby sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders, I'm sure things will be fine :)
We're getting a lot better. We don't have the debt we had when hubby lost his job, but we're just super careful now because we are so paranoid about it happening again. Hubby finds out tomorrow though if he gets promoted, so that would be a REALLY good thing! *Fingers crossed* We're so impatient, lol. People are always telling us, 'you're young, it'll happen someday'

i'm the dont get me anything type. lol i have more fun giving than i do recieving. i have tried to go and get things for myself, but then i see things that i know my daughters would like and there goes that idea ! lol
Trust me...I know whats it like to struggle with money. With Brad being on disabilty and me just working part-time at Walmart all we do is struggle. And then when I think we have caught up with everything and get all the bills paid another bill comes in...like electric.
Its going to be weird next year when we get the settlement. We plan on tucking almost all of it away and only touching 100 thousand...mainly for new cars and a down payment on a house. I plan on keeping my job just to pay bills.
And then when Brad gets his degree in Mechanical Engineering we will be rolling in the dough. Things are looking good for us. We just have to be careful.
I am in about the same boat as you Hunter, I grew up in a family with 6 sisters and a brother , I was number 4. I got pretty much nothing but hand me downs and garage sale clothes my entire life until I met my husband. I still have a hard time paying alot of money for clothes, but only for me. I can spend ALOT of money on hubby and the kids but I always feel so guilty spending money on myself. When I met my husband, he was hating his job as a Real Estate Agent and he was bartending on the side. We ended up moving to Florida because he had a job opportunity working with the phone company, we lived in a beautiful apartment with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in it! LOL We were paying $1500 in rent and really didn't have much left over but we had fun, then we lived in a motel for 6 months! We knew we were going to be in Minnesota for 6 months and no one would rent anything to us for that short of time, so we stayed in a small motel. That was soooo hard. I had a 1 1/2 year old and I was pregnant!
Finally we moved back home and hubby did everything to not go back to real estate but he finally did, after a while he decided to open up his own company. There was alot of months we were not sure he was going to be able to keep it open or not. Luckily, we are doing great now and we are soooooo very fortunate. He has actually gotten his business bigger then some of the other real estate companies in town(one of them is a Tomlinson Black!) So, we are hoping that this keeps going. It has been a struggle for sure but if you stick to it and be honest to everyone, you will always find your way. My husband runs his business better then anyone in town because he does not use money as his motivation. He wants his customers to be very happy and reccomend him to others. He is the most honest guy you will EVER meet. (Partly why I married him! LOL)
Anyway, lost my original thought...... My husband and I have decided to just get the kids and immediate family presents this year. I bought him a drum set and also the first season of "Lost". I am considering my new camera my present from him but if he does get me anything, a new lighting kit would be great........(*in case you are reading this honey! )
I totally forogt to put what we have already gotten Kaitlyn. Not much yet...we are going this week to finish her gifts.
Mermaid Barbie....a care bear book that the care bear will read for her.....a Cinderella Vanity....Madagascar DVD....A Rescue Me pet....Play-doh.....socks(LOL).....a new cute night light....and a Bratz baby.
We just went shopping yesterday for the girls. We spent Waaayyyy too much on them! LOL but hey, you are only a kid once right? Plus we donated to toys for tots. We are going to go up this week and put a "placement partner" on every dog in the shelter, a placement partner is a certain amount of money that is placed on the adoption fee to help lower it. So basically we are paying part of the adoption fees for every dog(well, we aren't, my husbands business is) but I can't wait to see if it helps get them adopted!
Thanks guys! It does always surprise me when I hear of other people that have had money issues. Puts it in perspective that we're not the only ones, lol. I do feel really blessed for what we do have, I mean, we own our own house and have 2 really dependable vehicles..it's just the debt..bleh..lol. Most of it is doctor bills. It was A LOT worse a year ago. We have really come a long way. I don't think it would have been so bad if we were both working, but at the time hubby was the only income since I stayed at home with the kids. When hubby lost his job we were just really strapped. Now, we're not strapped anymore, but because debt isn't totally gone yet, we're scared to spend any extra on ourselves. We do tend to spend more on the kids and once in awhile we go out to dinner. But as far as clothes, that is the thing hubby and I are the worst about spending on ourselves. But if hubby gets promoted, we can both finally quit the parttime jobs we have on the side. Mine is easy, I don't think I would quit, but I would love for hubby to only work one job because he works really long hours. It's funny, talking about this has made me realize what I want for Christmas...hubby's promotion. If he could get that, I would be totally happy! :)
Paige, our little girls would get along so well. They like all the same things, lol. I like that age, it's so easy. My son just turned 5 and asked for the new Game Boy. We were like, 'uh oh...it's starting' lol

Hunter, get him one for xmas! LOL They are only 7,000 ruffly. Depending on what you get him. Since he rides street bikes he SHOULD be OK. But if he does decided to start I would say start with a 125 2 stroke or a 250 4 stroke, ( I know french to all of you!). BUt just like street bikes he needs gear but more! Helemt, chest procetor, shine guards, knee guards, riding boot, gloves, and riding pants, jersy optional. Seems like he would look like a football player but really they don't
Hehe, I wish! He would LOVE that. He's actually pretty good on a dirt bike. Well, bikes in general. Don't know how he would be on an actual course though, lol

LOL getting on a actual track is TOTALLY different trust me! LOL You can find used bikes for pretty cheap, I forget where you are but here you can get a decent one for about 2,500. Which is good for a dirt bike. The most costly thing is gear they beat it up and they are so hard on it, it needs to be bought regulary. A good helemt will cost about 200 or so, good boots here's the kicker 400+ they only last about a year depending on how hard they ride. You can get cheaper ones but they will not last nearly as long as the good ones. The ones i'm getting are 150 but if hubby was to wear them they might last him 2 months at the most. Hubby hasn't had his a year yet and he already needs new ones bad. Everything else is pretty cheap pants being the most at about 150+ depending on brand and toughness.
If ya'll ever need anything let me know, i'll be more then glad to help ya. If I don't know i'm sure hubby will.
Thanks Stormy! I will definately ask your advice when it comes time. Actually, we would like to get them all at once when we do get them because I would like to get into it as well and my hubby really wants our son to get into it. What sizes would be needed for a 6'2 190 pound guy, a 5'4 110 pound girl, and a 5 year old? We were thinking we would hold off on my daughter because she's only 3, and then when she's 5, she could have my son's old one and we can get my son a new one.
That's so true about gear...we don't go through it so much on hubby's street bike, but it is expensive. And he has to get new tires ALL the time from riding all the time and they are 130 EACH tire. Expensive hobby, lol. But that's okay because I wake skate and wake board, and that's not exactly cheap either, lol.
