It happened when I was walking her, I stopped when a man and his boxer approached, his dog laid down. I asked if she was being friendly or ready to pounce on Lilly. I locked Lillys flexi leash so's she could not run towards her. Well this dog lunged forward. I was a good 12 feet from her. She got too close for my comfort so I quickly pulled Lilly toward me just about a foot. Lilly got scared and jumped a bit, then she was holding her left leg up. I was hoping it was just something she could walk off. It was not. Her patella keeps on popping out. She was on a round of anti-inflams but still the same problem. Vet also said that probably in the future she would end up with the other one needing it too. So this friday she is going to have the surgery. She goes in at 8 a.m. in the morning. Wish us well. Then weeks of rest. Feeling bummed, but it will fix the problem.
Thanks Stormy, It will be hard. Think she and I will spend alot of time in my room away from too much activity. If she is around rufus she may want to play. Today is my birthday.
Hope everything goes well for Lilly. I need to get Mia fixed and I keep putting it off. I've only had her for 3 months and barely finished all her puppy shots. I want ot give her a break from the vet for a while.
Thanks guys. Its mighty fun having friends online remembering your birthday.
For the first four days after her surgery she will have a patch that releases pain meds into her skin slowly. So thankfully she will be wanting to just relax and be loopy. I just can't take it when they cry, that yelping over and over. Its so sad. I will be tired over the next month or so keeping her calm.
surgery is no fun for anyone, animals or human. she will do fine knowing she has a very loving mommie waiting for her when she wakes up. give her an extra smooch and hug from this crew, deb, rocky, annie and harley
Awww, poor Lilly! Give that sweet furgal a hug from me. A gal I work with went thru the same thing with her Westie and sure enough ended up having to have the 2nd one done as well. The hardest thing is keeping them very low keyed on their activity level as that is very important. Poor Cesar was so upset being crated so much and losing his freedom to be off lead in the fenced in yard and restricted by a leash. Luckily it was a 1 dog home so that alleviated alot of the potential for problems. I have no doubt Lilly will be on the receiving end of lots of love and spoiling.
I hope you have had a wonderful day and a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY from me & my furcrew!
