Here is a description of the tat I am probally gonna get. I didn't know that it was bad luck to have someone's name tattooed on you so I came up with another idea. Actually once I type this up I will do a rough draft over in paint.
Ok I am gonna get two smallish flowers. Once one will be the birthstone color of me and the hubby. And floating around those flowers will be 3 butterflies each one the color of each kids birthstone. Plus one extra butterfly with my first son's birthstone color. What do ya'll think good idea? It will be one my left shoulder blade....
Remeber I can not draw good and this is a rough draft this:
Sounds nice! I want to see pics once it's done!!!! I need to convice hubby to let me get the other 2 I want then i'll be done. He said the only way I can get a tat is if it was his name, but I really want one with my sons name maybe hubby somewhere there too. I have an idea in my head but I can't really discribe it. I'll have to go to my friends shop and have him draw it up if I can get it!
I was gonna do the hubby's name and the day we meet but...I have heard some shops won't tattoo names like that and that it is bad luck. not that I am really superstious or anything but I didn't want to take the chance. And thats why I like the other idea i posted. No names but has meaning. And if by some chance I have another kid. They can easily be added in.
p.s. can you see the rough draft picture I posted?
Most shops won't do names because they know that once you get it's there for good and with marrieds and stuff now they know that most do not last. I've been to a few shops that won't do names. I asked one once why and they gave me the superstition line, I looked at him like he was crazy and he told me something different. I guess the superstition came from that. Make sense?
Hi Rebel! I don't have tats yet, but there are two I am getting sometime this spring. I think your tat is a cute idea! I think it would be really neat if the flowers were roses, since they symbolize love, but then again..Roses are done a lot and I don't know how 'original' you want to be. Let us know how it goes! Especially pain wise since I want some too! Lol

One of my sisters and I have been looking for a shamrock that we can get tattooed on the back of our necks. It will show with my hair up. I posted a couple pictures to her today to see what she likes. May end up being simple as it will be small.
When it comes to pain it's all on you. Like me I fell asleep during both of mine and when I had one re-done. Only time they really hurt is when they are going over scar tissue or a really boney area like the ankle. If you have a high pain tollarance it shouldn't bother you. I would discrbe what it feels like but then most people thinks it's hurts even more when it doesn't.
For my tat with my son I want like a heart with a rose wrapped around with the vines spelling his name. It would most likely be a blue heart with a puprle rose. That will have several meanings. A purple rose was my grandmother fav flower. Blue heart well thats something to me, i've always had a thing with blue. Both of my tats now are blue and black. Blue rose with a trible and a blue spade with black flames flowing from both sides. With my hubby's name I don't know yet I want something similar like the one with my son's but yet totally different at the same time.
This is not my first tat. I have a rose on my calf. Got that one four yrs ago. That one didn't hurt to bad. It only hurt, well stung, for the first 5 minutes then it went numb. And when one of the leaves got close to the shin bone it hurt.
I also have a black sun on my inner ankle. That one was home done when I was 18. They used a sewing machine motor i believe when they made that one. That one did not hurt much either and that kinda shocked everyone. i also have a heart on my other ankle. That was done by hand with a needle. Once again no pain.
But let me tell ya if I get a tooth ache I turn into a big baby. Go figure.
***ETA: If and I mean If I get a good deal on getting my tat done. I may get a tragus done.***
I really like the flower and butterflies. I just got one for my b-day last october that is 3 Hawaiian flowers to represent my hubby, son and i and under it, it says Ohana (family). I love it! The tatoo artist did a wonderful job.
Aw man, I'm SOL then...no pain threshold what-so-ever...lol =P
The two I want, one I want on my ankle, and the other on the lower part of my back. I have heard both those hurt, oye.
I like everyone's tat descriptions and tat ideas, creative! I always like the tats that have meaning and aren't just because the person liked how it looked. Course, I'm being a hypocrite because I want Tinkerbell because I like Tinkerbell, lol.

Ah heck, Hunter, the pain is no biggy. Got one on my ankle, but it was tolerable. I did not hesitate at all. Women have high pain tolerances, we bear children, this is tittleywinks compared to that. The area by the panty line in the front sort of tickled me. My bum was no biggy. Er uh, well LOL thats a matter of opinion, I think my bum is huge. LOL
Hunter...the ones on my back didn't hurt...nor did the one on my ankle. But my arm is another story. But then again its huge. LOL!!! I got it worked on just a week ago and the elbow and top of the shoulder bones hurt like hell.
I wasn't in pain in either of mine expect for when they went over scar tissue on my back. It's a pretty huge scar from when a fight years ago. That hurt like hell! I was in tears and I have a very high pain tolorance. Other than that it tickled a little. I thought it would hurt also until he did a "dry" line to see how I would react. A good tat artist will do that to a first timer. If you want to know how it feels you can always call around and see if there is one that would be willing to do that for you.
Neither of my shoulders hurt too bad except when he did my arm band because it is dark and wide. The one that hurt the most was my lower back and only on the sides but it is kinda big. My ankle was cake and my last one on the side of my calf (Hawaiian flowers) was easy despite a bit of detail. I almost fell asleep on that one........lol. I think it gets a little easier with each one.
I used to think it got easier on every one. But when you go every other week teh pain seems to get a little worse. Maybe its becuase I keep getting the same piece worked on and we don;t give it time to heal all the way. Plus each tattoo I get keeps getting bigger and bigger. Too addicting if you ask me...
Lol, thanks for the input you guys! I'm not too worried. I am more curious than anything, I have heard so many different feelings about it. One saying it feels like you're being snapped with a rubberband, another that it sort of tickles, one that it really does feel like you're getting a shot over and over....so just kind of curious who is the most accurate, lol.
I guess since I had a 9 pound baby, a tat should be cake compared to that! Hehe
