I lost $2100!!!

My husband sold his lawnmower. We got $4000 for it. He decided he wanted a truck, and I handed him 1500 to put down on it. Well, he went nuts and decided to get a 15000 truck, he called and I said NO WAY. We were going for something under 10 and something we didn't have to finance through a finance company because then, in addition to adding him to my insurance, we'd have to get full coverage. Just can't afford it. So I said no and he was none too happy.

SO instead of coming home from the dealership, he had my granddad drop him off at the bar, knowing I would be at school by the time he came home. So I went up there and explained why we couldn't afford it, and all was well. Then, when it was time to go home, I got in the car and discovered that the remainder of the money ($2100) was NOT in my purse. It was gone. There's a no smoking rule here in GA, and he and I had gone outside to smoke... I had left my purse and keys on the bar so that it didn't look like we were walking out without paying... I know, STUPID... and I guess some really bold person stole my money. It really sucks. That's a lot of money for us.

So I am going to get a job today.

Oh, I WAS flipped out. This happened the day before yesterday. Joe did so well, I figured he would want to kill me.. He was angry, punched out a window in the basement, and a light fixture, but didn't say anything ugly to me except that that was a stupid thing to do, to carry around that in my purse and then leave it there. (Which was true and not undeserved) I felt really bad and screamed and cried. Yesterday morning he didn't much want to speak to me, but by the afternoon, he was kinda joking about it and we were friends again. But he definitely wants me to get a job. And I can't really argue that one at this point.

Around 4 AM I went back up there to see if maybe it fell out of my purse outside, because I did take it out with me all the times except once. (no luck) I haven't had a chance to talk to the bartender that was working that night and see if anything looked fishy, but then even if it did, there's not much I can do now. LOL Other than to hope that the person that took it had a worse day than I did!

It's so hard to make a mistake and then have someone tell you about it, even if it is deserved. Glad you're able to swallow your pride about it, I would probably get defensive, lol.  Do you have to get a job to pay him back, or just because? Like I said in another thread, paper routes pay pretty good, lol. Or do portraits for people. Could make a lot of money that way

Heck, if you quit smoking you would not only avoid repeating the incident, but you would prolly save that much money up pretty quick.

Karma my dear!  Karma will bite them 2100 times over!

If there is one thing I cannot stand it is a thief!  They had no idea what that money was for.  It could have been for an operation on your child for all they knew, for your first car, rent to keep from getting evicted, any emergency situation.  UGH!  People like REALLY tick me off.  The 'powers that be' will get them though.....all in due time.

I totally agree with Barnabbus.
It will bite them, soon. Our collective god/karma agent is not a patient creature.
