Update on Surgery

Just an update on her surgery.....

Ms. Thang went to her doctor yesterday because some of her incisions had been draining quite a bit.  Come to find out, 2 of them had ruptured.  They packed them with gause and cleaned them of course.  She will be going back in the morning then will have visits from a home health nurse each day after that.

I was just letting ya'll know that it may be about another week before she is back on.  I think I need to hog tie her.  Its killing her to not be able to do things.  She is so worried about this place and says she is so behind on everything.  I think she neds prozac...lol.  Maybe I can bribe an ex worker to prescribe her some.....lol...no really though.....she is just a busy body and this kind of thing (bed rest) makes her nuts.

Anyway, she made me come on here so ya'll would know what happened this time...lol.

BTW....where in the heck is jawlaw and MollieMae?????

Ouch..Sorry Ansy is going through all this. Tell her to take it easy before she really hurts herself. She needs to let her body heal. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.

Ansy stay in bed and get well.  If you don't stay in bed and rest and let your body heal you will just be lying around that much longer.  Take care of yourself.

Thanks for the update!  Ansy, after all you've been through you deserve some down time!  Find a great book that you've been looking forward to reading and have your hubby track one down for you & enjoy it.  The sooner you take it easy and follow your doctor's advice, the sooner you will be back.  Right now is the time to concentrate on YOU for a change!

She just needs to keep her butt in bed and heal.

I remember my dads incision on his abdomen got yukky at the very bottom near his lower abdomen and we had to pack it with guaze until it healed. There was about a 2 inch deep hole in his gut. It healed fairly quickly but I hated cleaning it for him because it hurt like hell.

Oooh, is THAT why my house is sooo dirty?

Poor Ansy.
Best not hog-tie her, when she gets better she'll clock you.... We women usually wait till you are asleep, before doing the real mean things

Awww......poor Ansy.  Tell her not to worry, she has a great furum family here that can handle things.    Take care of that woman and yes, hog tie her if need be.

The home health nurse came tonight.  They are teaching me how to take care of her wounds.  I hadn't seen them in 2 days since she had been going to her doctor.  He had opened them up to clean them.  Tonight when they removed the bandages, I about **** a brick.  There was a 3 inch incision...like a hole.....up in her belly.  The other one is much smaller...like an ice pic stab and pretty deep.  The 3rd one on her abdomen is all but healed and the incision in her belly button is doing fine as well.  It's just those 2.

Twice a day I have to take the bandages off and pull gauze out of the holes.  I then have to open the wounds up and pack them with gauze.  It's nerve racking.

She is on complete bed rest now.  She can walk to the bathroom and stand for just a few minutes, but NO sitting.  Evidently sitting strains the wounds.  She just has to lie down flat and she's going nuts.  Earlier tonight she just broke down and cried.  She feels so helpless and just can't take it.  She was always such a busy body and well....now she just feels like nothing....saying she is just burden on me and the boys.  That couldn't be farther from the truth, but I can't make her see that.

I may take a pic of her incisions and post them if she will let me...lol...she may not want anyone seeing her belly (she is a big woman and I love it...but she is self conscious about it...lol) but I'll see what she says.  I will warn you all in the heading of the post if it involves the pic....I know not everyone would want to see it.

Anyway, just bear with us and say a little prayer....if nothing else...just for her sanity.   Being on bed rest is harder on her than the surgery itself because she just wants to be up.  She wasn't even home 2 weeks when this hit and she wants to mingle with us and the animals.....plus the spring cleaning thing is hitting her.

I will keep ya'll updated.  Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.  You all are great!

Awww, Poor Ansy.
I know what you are going through Barney. When my mom had my youngest sister, she had to have a C-Section and in the hospital, she was walking around and it broke open!!! Well, they said they couldn't close it because it could get infected so I had to care for her at home and it was 'DISGUSTING'.....LOL I was like 16 and it was the worst thing I ever had to do, I had to remove the gauze, wash out her insicion(sp?) area and then re pack it again. Her insicion went from one side of her stomach to the other.

Sorry you guys are having to go through all of this. :(

Euuwww. That's sounds real fun. Anytime people ask me why I'm not a veterinarian, jeez, can you imagine doing that day in, day out?...oof, or a people doctor. It is one thing doing that with someone you love, but just doing that with strangers of all types....huh, makes you real respectful of the medical profession, don't it? My mom's a nurse I wouldn't last a minute with that stuff. Funny thing is, when it came to whelping the pups, and microchipping them, later, she buckled, and I had to do it for her. Also, I remove my pups dewclaws, she went to the vet [too much trauma to mom dog, me and pups, I just prefer to do it on my own].
Just think, when you are done vetting Ansy, those goats and critters will be a breeze.
So did you ever get more chickens going? You should have eggs or dinner, by now from those few you had, did any of them survive? I don't do goats, but when I had the place for them, I had 30 chickens and a rooster. I like chickens.
Keep me posted on Ansy. Don' wanna see no pictures of that, though. You boys like to compare scars and stuff...gives me the woolies. I just thank god, I'm not in Ansy's bedroom slippers [guess she isn't wearing shoes this week]
Maybe you better start the spring cleaning for her. She can supervise...I guess it will be a while before she can push a broom, or swing a mop, w/o popping a stitch
You know what, too, if she is on any pain meds, those make you cry, and feel like you say Ansy is...Also, there is mental issues about losing those parts that kinda freaks women out. Of course, it sounds like a good idea at the time, but the regrets come later [and they are silly, but that's where your mind takes you]. Make sure you are steaming veggies [esp. carrots]and baked potatoes and stuff. Good food affects your mood positively. Sugar is a no-no, leads to mood swings. A good b-complex deals with depression and stress [don't eat it before bedtime]. Cold ice tea, and a warm husband is more remedy than anything else I can think of.

That sounds just like the wound my daddy had on his lower belly. My dads was gross. We had to wash it out with water...saline solution...three times a day. We had to use a water pic too because it would flush out infection. Hope Ansy gets to feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear Ansy is bed bound and not for a fun reason!  It is very exasperating for someone so used to being busy & active to be so restricted and I can thoroughly understand what she is feeling.  I know when I was in a similar bedbound situation I know I put my hubby through pure hell through absolutely no fault of his - my moods were horrendous.  I hope Ansy is easier on  you than I was on my hubby!

Let Ansy know we are all wishing for a speedy recovery for her.
