Here I am again, the lurker. Well after seven months of looking we finally found a dog at a rescue shelter in OK about 100 miles away. Just got back. She seems to be part wire haired Terrier but that is about the only part I know. Maybe you experts can help me. She is seven pounds, docked tail, about one to one and a half years old. She has an underbite and likes to stick her tongue out to her nose. We are taking her to the Vet Monday for a complete check up, shots and seeing if she has been fixed or not. I am thinking of calling her Kabukey (don't ask). I hope it isn't a cuss word in another language.
The reason I am coming to this forum is because you guys are never rude when people ask questions. I have seen some forums and they are down right nasty if you are not in their clique.
Thanks Paige, I was just looking at Affenpinschers and she looks similar to that, her lower jaw is undersot. So maybe she is part that. If that is what she is I may name her Monkey. I have the worse time with names, I always have to wait a few days for the name to fit the personality.
she was worth the drive. she is absolutely adorable. i wouldnt have a clue on the breed. she could have some affenpincher in her. congratulations on you new beautiful baby girl !!
When I first saw here I thought "monkey dog" I couldn't think of the actual breed name! LOL Then you said affenpincher and I know it then. It really does look like she has some in here. But she could always be something totally different! Who knows with mixes!
But, with that said she sure is adorable! Congrats on the new addition!
Thank you one and all, sorry for not responding sooner but this "OLD" lady had to take a nap. Got up at 4:00 am...did wash, the outside critters and just stuff. My hubby had sent me an email (we have two computers and he stays up late and sleeps in I go to bed early and get up early) so, needless to say, when he finally got up we called and headed on out so I had to take a nap so I would have the energy to go out to the barns to feed our critters. Oh Hubby he is still napping.
The baby even slept with us, she just laid right next to me, three dogs, two people, two cats in one bed, think PETA will get after us for not having enough room!!!???? I thought of Cherokee because we got her in the Cherokee Nation. I will see how she plays and romps and than decide. Right now she comes to anything, a very lovable dog and nothing phases here not even our inside menagerie. She is definitely a lap dog wants to sit on my lap every time I sit down, not a good idea when you are in the potty.
So you don't think we are breeder or anything like that, I wanted a lap dog, we got another rescue a year ago, and she turned into my husband's lap dog. She is chi/pap 4 lbs. I had written about her on the TP site w-a-y back, but I didn't feel comfortable there. Nothing against them maybe it was just me. Anyway we also have two rescue cats 10 and 11, and one rescue Chinese Crested 11. These are years not months. The Crested has always been very stand offish but we do tolerate him or does he tolerate us. All critters are spayed and neutered even the two outside with the livestock.
We are also a foster family for our dog shelter which is about 30 miles away. It is a "no-kill" shelter but if you adopt one of their dogs you can no longer foster, right now I am the only foster family. We live in the boonies, one neighbor, dirt roads, our "city" which we are not in has a pop of 325.
Sorry to ramble, guess that nap did me some good...old motor mouth signing off..............
I will post better pics tomorrow, the pic I posted was from the rescue lady. This way you can see her standing and her features better.
Cute dog. In my day anything that short was a Cockapoo. Heck, I owned one just about the same as her till my horse ran over it. [Little dogs and horses don't mix]
Kabukey is really a cute little dog. Probably someone was experimenting with a new breed of pups. She looks like maybe she has some yorkie in her(?) There are several small breeds that has the curled up tongue. No matter what her breed, she's a lucky dog now.
I think "Kabukey" is a great name for her. I'm not very good at identifying very small dogs, so I can't help you with the breeds in the mix, but she sure is cute.

Welcome! I am glad to see you posting, it is always so fun to get to know new people! I am jessica and i am owned by a french bulldog, a basset hound, and a sphynx!
Hmm, she does look very affenpincher. or even part brussels. What about the coatedcresties. He does not have webbed feet does he. or even chi-terrier. So hard to say without putting your hands on it. We have a dog that looks similar but blonish. I would bet my bottem dollar she's brussel-poodle mix. They think lhasa or peke mix. Or yours could even be mixing with a maltese and a terrier. How much does he weigh?
Yep, looks like an Affie to me. My mom's friend breeds them and tried to get me to. She is adorable and you are great for rescueing the poor baby. Oh and i think the name you picked fits her perfect. Congrats on the new baby!
