Once they did the presurgical test they were very hesitant to do it, so I told them not to. Her heart mumur is worse, and one of her live enzimes is down it should be 7-20, and is a 5. And they think she is have a false pregnecy. she went out of heat a month and a half ago.
She has been spend all of her time with my brother, so last night is the first time in about 6 months she has spend any time with me, she wasn't happy. she has picked my brother as her person and wants to be with him. Well she was laying with me in bed as I went to be her belly and noticed that she was bigger and it looked like she was getting some milk. I know my male dog was not around her, we have been very careful about that. But they are going to run some liver test, and a pregncy test.
We will probally not have her spayed, and just let her live out her life. I don 't want to do anything that will shorten her time.
I just called the vet to check on her. She is not pregnat. Yay!!! They still have to do some more blood test but I should be able to get her home in a hour or so. Then I will know what is going on. Wish her luck!!
I've had a couple false pregnancies before, real weird stuff, that. Dogs even went into labor, and had milk...amazing how they can pretend so hard Prolly good you don't fix her. A friend of mine had two male GSDs and the one with an undecended testicle did not survive the nuetering operation. You would think it was safer than that, but I'm betting lots of animals die getting fixed.
Were back. They should have the test result back tomorrow or the next day. Then we'll know why her enzimes were so wacky.
I have never had a pet they went thur false pergency. I hope she doesn't have false labor as well, that would freak me out. I knew it couldn't be Duke, the moment we notice the other girls acting weird around her we seperated him from her. I know that with her heart it would kill her, so we are carefull with her.
We are not going to spay her even if her liver and hormones get working right. Just going to let her live out her short life without any complication, and just let her be happy and carefree. I would rather her die at home and not on some cold table.
Thank doG for pre-surgical testing. I think you're making the right call not to have her spayed. For her, the procedure just seems too risky. Enjoy your time with her, and keep reminding her how loved she is.

She is very spolied. Also if she does something bad and you say bad dog to her, her mother (Duchess) will bark and get one to you. She is the baby and she knows it.
Well the vet had a tech call me to tell me nothing was wrong with missy, and that they recommend that I bring her back in a few months to have her spayed. I am not going to.
they also quoted me 181 to have my dad's cat fixed and all of his shots, but when I went to pick him up it was 260. I think I need a new vet. There are just to many inconsitancy (sp) with this one. So if any one know of a good vet in the DFW area let me know.
Wow. That is scary. They have vets that specialize in heart testing for the different breeds. Since these tests are so common now, I doubt they cost very much.
I talked to a few but they said the best would be to take her down to college station. That is were the vet school is.
I just a little put out with my vet, they tell you one thing and it's not that then they also say it will be this much but it ends up being double.
I just wish I could find a good country vet like I use to have. But he died a few years back, he did it just for the love of the animals. He really love being a vet and helping anyone who needed help.
Yeah, I pin mine down and ask what all other possible charges are, I don't like surprizes at all. If you can find an independant vet, that is not VCA, or corporate based, the price may be lower.
