A short time ago I posted pics of our adopted dog that somebody found in OK and posted that they were getting rid of it because they had too many dogs. We did not know the breed. We thought it might be an Affenpinscher after I checked I don't know how many pics of dogs. Well we have still been checking to see if anybody lost an Affenpinscher through different forums and ran a few ads. To make a very long story short we ran across a breeder in AR and he showed some pics of his dogs. The female looked exactly like ours so I called him up and explained about Cherokee, he has three female Affenpinschers but has not breed in two years. There are only 200 registered AKC Affenpinschers. Anyway I emailed him some pics of Cherokee and his answer was that she is without a doubt an Affenpinscher. Now why would anybody drop off such a rare breed? We are getting her fixed in two weeks, she is presently in heat. In fact she went into heat the second day we got her. I can see it now we get her fixed and her owners post a reward for her return and here she has been fixed. But I just don't feel it is fair to the dog not to have her fixed since I have no intentions of breeding her. She is a cutie though and my DH and I were laughing that here we are living in the boonies and we have a "la-de-da" dog.
Just wanted you to know that the mystery of her breed has been solved and I do appreciate everybody that helped me.
You should stick around Cherokee. I promise I won't think that I'm talking to Jawlaw, now that you are Cherokee. True, it is weird that someone would not miss a rare dog like that, but there are all kinds of pup owners out there, and many of them are wretched... I had pups born last night, I started looking for people that I liked a month ago...
Well probably a reason like the person that dropped off an $1800 Brussels Griffon to out rescue. Stupid person said she grew tooooo big. She's only about 7 lbs. Came in with a coach collar and the name of Rita Hayworth. Rescue leader may keep her. She is a cutie. So that is what kind of bumhole would let an Affie sit in the shelter.
Nice to have an answer of what breed your was huh. Yeah, stick around.
I volunteer at the shelter about two towns over, I am a foster parent also. It just never ceases to amaze me about some people. I have seen two day old puppies dropped off in a box and just left at the gates. Old dogs that can hardly walk chained up to the gate. There are times I would like to take some people and put them in the cages and let the dogs walk around them and taunt the heck out of them.
I am just glad that Cherokee has a home here and she is slowly starting to come out of her shell and playing with her toys and Whatever's toys, wagging her tail and FINALLY if I don't get her outside in time pottying on the paper. Whatever, our long hair chi/pap (4 pounds) is usually very food aggressive with the other dog and cats but she shares with Cherokee. It is funny because Whatever will load up her mouth with kibbles, (seven is her world record) and bring the food in the living room and drop the kibbles out and eat one piece at a time, well Cherokee will go over and share and not even a small growl out of Whatever. This sounds funny but I do believe that Cherokee told Whatever all about her previous home and Whatever is trying to make her welcome.
That is amazing that your chi love him soooooo. Our rescue get dogs cats, etc in many ways, one time some bikers told them of a dog on the railroad tracks. Had they not done that, that sweet gal would be dead. She had had pups recently and also had a fractured pelvis. Maybe happened when tossed on the tracks. But anyways, she is in a loveing household now.
I say... Horray for your fancy pet. I got my fancy free pet just after christmas. A lady came to my work and said this is my daughters $1000 cat, i don't want her, you take her or i will drop her off somewhere....Now i have a purebred sphynx with the sweetest personality ever!
XjessicaXburgiX, I saw the pictures you had posted of your beautiful cat. When I read your posts about your baby I just couldn't believe somebody is that DUMB!! and than along came Cherokee. I am just wondering how long my DH and I should continue checking the papers in the surrounding States and Cities to see if she was lost or just given up since she was found in a park. Thank the big questions if she was lost and I do find an ad will I be able to give her back. Still haven't found anything and it has been three weeks. The breeder I talked to hadn't heard of any Affenpinschers being lost and the owners around the three state area are a close knit lot.
