The Time Has Come

Now that trinity is 2 years old I have started looking into getting her fixed. I was very shocked when i found out the SPCA would do it for 80 - 90 dollars and that includes Rabies shot ( maybe others ), getting fixed, pain killers and anything else she needs for the procedure. So if we can get an appointment tomorrow we are taking her in. If we cant get her in tomorrow then well i hope she doesnt start her next heat before we get her in. Her heat is suppose to start in the next 2 weeks or so. They are only open wenesday thru Saturday and its by appointment only. I cant wait to get her fixed no more mess to clean up lol .

Awww poor Trinity....hehe  but she will feel better when it's done.  So will you.  It is awesome that so many places are making it resonable to fix pets anymore.  It used to be outragous.  Good luck!

$580 is insane.  I had my animals done at their regular vet, and the procedure wasn't nearly that expensive.  I wish you the best of luck getting a timely appointment at the SPCA.  Sometimes those clinics have a long waiting list, so you may have to endure one more heat cycle before having having her spayed, but given that you have experience managing a dog in heat, I'm sure you can handle it.  At worst, it's only one more time, and then you'll be free from the mess.

I know i cant wait to be free of the mess. Plus i really want to get her fixed before next weekend cause my room mates dog will be coming over and He is about 14 years old and she says he wont even try cause hes so old andfixed but hey that doesnt mean he wont try and if its one thing i have learned some dog when they smell a female in heat weather the male is fixed or not they will usually try any means possible to mate.

One last thrill for the old boy?

I hope all goes well with whomever you choose for surgery. It is major surgery, so shopping around for somewhere you feel comfortable is important.
It is true that awareness is increasing and availability of spay/nueter is getting better, low cost options. Everybody wants to make a buck, but the state systems are overloaded, and it will profit the generality to make this a low cost option. The quality of service needs to be watched, but a bored professional working many days for years on end does not necessarily provide better care than an up and coming vet....BIG judgement call.

Yea i am thinking i am going to go with the SPCA cause they are good and cheap. The vets off that gave the 580 quote the only reason i called them is cause they are rigth up the street from me but they are 1 of the most expensive ones in my area.

Check around shamelessly, it is to your advantage.
