I found out whats hurting my dogs paws!

So for the last month I have been having problems with my dogs injuring their feet and I couldnt figure out how they were doing it.

It started with Lana who had a very deep laceration between two of her toes, She needed stitches. Then Hyde with his chronic limping after going outside. Then Hyde got a cut similar to Lanas two days ago which isnt as bad as Lanas but still bad. And then last but not least there is Bear who has been limping for the last 2 days.

Ive been freaking out cause I've checked my yard and i am so worried cause they each keep getting paw injuries. We thought it was from them jumping on the wall out back, but then yesterday at work it hit me! The sprinklers! They run around that backyard and probley dont see the sprinklers throughout the grass(they dont go down but stay up) and they propley step on them or trip on them.

Now that I know what the problem is I dont know how to fix it. I rent a house, and I might be moving in December. Its going to be very expensive to get new sprinklers put in the back and I cant afford that, but I also cant afford taking the dogs in for xrays and stitches every other day.

This means I cant let them play out back. I dont know what to do :(

Tie some buckets over the sprinklers?

It might make your yard look a little funny but what I would do is turn the sprinklers off (if they are on an automatic timer) and put something over the sprinkler heads.  If there are too many it might be fairly easy to do once you figure out what to use.  You could use kids' plastic sand buckets and somehow anchor them - maybe if you found ones that had a lip around the rim you could secure them to the ground using tent stakes or something like that.

I hope you figure out a solution so they can run & play without getting injured.

You might also try to get some garden/landscape fencing that is a foot or two high and place it around each of the sprinkler heads.  The little fencing won't interfere with the sprinkler system but will keep the dogs from stepping on the heads.  You should be able to find it at places like Home Depot or Lowe's.
