Hey everyone!!! Wow, has mom found my "thing" or what!! I LOVE agility, my mam has been told over and over, "chows can't learn anything, they are too stubborn" or "you are seriousely going to try a chow for agility", well here I am to prove everyone that said stuff like that they are WRONG!! 8)
Okay, so here is how my day went yesterday, first me and mom got to the agility park..... I just had to munch on that piece of grass, my daddy took all the pictures of us....aren't we cute? Hope you enjoy them!!
Then, mama had to stretch me out before we worked out, she says it is important so I do not get hurt. Plus, it looks funny!!
Then it was time to play!!! I got to go on my most absolute favoritest of all, the "walk". I love it. We quick on it that is why we are blurry.
Then I went through the "tunnel", I am not a big fan of the tunnel, it is kind of scary because I cannot see mama on the other side, but I am getting it.
Then we played with the "tire", I am good at that and they raised it up pretty high for me, last week I was at 8 inches, and this week it was 12 and 16 inches!!! I did good!
We got to do the "A-Frame" for the first time, it was scary but I didn't let anyone see, I am a tough dog at agility, and after the first time, it was easy!
Mom was proud of me going over the A-frame without any problems so we gave each other some paw (I like doing that!)
Then, the best part, we got to do multiple jumps, at first we did them on leash and then we did FOUR jumps OFF LEASH!!!
Oh, mama was so proud of me, she was so excited that she scooped me up into her arms and held me and we smiled for daddy. It was so much fun!!
So, if anyone ever tells you you can't do something, prove them wrong. My trainer loves me and she said she was really impressed with me. I am better then alot of the dogs there....a two year old poodle, a 1 year old st. bernard, a aussie! Can you believe that? I am a fearless dog, I will do whatever I have to to show the world that I can do it. So, here is to all of you doggies out there that are trying to do what people say you can't!!! (That excludes things like eating out of the cat box and chewing up homework!)
I need to get out and take more pictures. I will be selling Kitty [Kitiara] this week. I did her, and her brother's hip and elbow x-rays this week. To my shock, and dismay, he passed and she didn't. So I won't be Kitty's mom anymore, but I will keep the name on the forum. I am so diappointed. Kitty is my favorite dog.
I am too low income to keep a pet. We are allowed only 3 dogs in town, here. If I keep a pet, I will not be able to keep a valuable brood ****, and a spayed pet cannot continue my bloodline. I am not interested in other bloodlines. If, at some point, I lose mine, I will likely not keep pets in the future. They are too much work. It is ok if the work is for a passion, like my linage, and seeing the dog's ancestors in the dog's every movement and look, but just to have a pet does not interest me at all. Kitiara was the culmination of a lot of things, I had high hopes for her, was picking her a fine husband, probably would have replaced all my dogs with her offspring, now it's back to the drawing board as they say. I'm thinking that Tanya and Buck may produce something that turns me on, Buck is Kitty's brother. But that is a future that again is unrealised, and I can only hope...so I do...hope.
Understand. Couldn't kittys brother have a strong chance of passing on the "not passing" elbows/knees? Even though he passed? Is it something you just try and see or do you also look for a different male?
The tire picture is my favorite. I crack up every time you talk about your agility chow. It's great that you gave him a chance to try agility instead of just deciding that because he is a chow, he couldn't be any good at it. Go Ching!
I'm sorry about Kitty's x-rays. She's a fine-looking dog. I could never handle the stress of being a breeder.

Thanks Proto! He loves it, and it is definitely more bonding then obedience. He did well in obedience but he got bored easily, this keeps his mind going. My husband is going to build me a agility course so I can practice at home. We want to continue and hopefully get into competitions with him. He is QUICK!! He doesn't look like it but he really very fast. I think he will do well!
Naw, the lines of both of them are certified on both sides, way back. Looking at the x-ray it could be something she did with her constant donutting [she always circles the same direction]. He was normal on the hips and elbows, probably a good rating on the hips. Their father was OFA excellent, their dams [sisters] were OFA good, their grandparents were good and excellent on both sides. From certified lines, we see a 10% rate of dysplacia, my friends and I see even less than that, but it still occurs in all Labrador bloodlines. Because diet and enviornment cause 75% of the HD out there, it is hard to say what affected this dog. But she won't be part of the breeding population, and all of her relatives that are part of the population are certified good and excellent, with cleared eyes, also.
