I am kind of getting desperate, I am trying to find out the name of a boat. On the movie called 'Message in a Bottle', the main character (Kevin Costner) has a boat and I cannot find out what the name of the boat is. We just bought a boat this month and we are taking it out on Tuesday but I have no name for it.
This movie is the first movie my husband and I watched together. It is "our" movie. We are buying it on DVD soon. It is a special movie to me, and I would like to honor our new boat with a name off the movie. We are sappy, I know. But that is how we are with each other.
If ANYONE knows it, PLEASE let me know!!! THANK YOU!!
3. Using Symbols in Stories Many stories are told using symbols. Do you see any symbols in Message in a Bottle? Water is often symbolic of a journey, a change, or a renewal. Do any of those symbols fit the story? What might be symbolized when Garret takes Theresa for a sail? What might be symbolized when Garret rushes out into the rain when he finds the letters in Theresa's drawer? What might be symbolized when Theresa spills a glass of water on Catherine's art table?
There are many beautiful shots of the sea in Message in a Bottle. What feelings do you have when you see them? What symbolic meanings do they hold for you? When Garret rushes back into Theresa's bedroom to read the third letter, we hear the roar of the Chicago L train. How does that roar make you feel? We are not on the el. Why do we hear it? Is it used symbolically? As a symbol of what?
What might be the symbolic meanings of Catherine's paintings and Garret's shrine to his wife? What might be the symbolic meaning of Dodge threatening to cut Catherine's painting? What might be the symbolic meaning of Garret restoring boats rather than designing new ones? What might be the symbolic meaning of Garret giving Catherine's paintings to her parents? What might be the symbolic meaning of Garret replacing Catherine's shrine with a drafting table? What might be the symbolic meaning of Garret naming his first boat after Catherine rather than Theresa? What might be the symbolic meaning of the storm at the end of the movie?
