Well, guess that poor guy is having a bad day. I'd like to hear HIS side of the story, before I have an opinion. The critters in the videos look well fed, and healthy, the structures are low, but shaded and roomy with water. He certainly has enough land and kennel space for a lot of small dogs. Will be interesting to see how this plays out in court. Those feral JRT's are not adoptable, so the gov't is taking them to their death, or at best another facility like this one-if they are lucky.
From parts of the video I saw the dog didn't seem to feral, as they were handeling them with catch poles, and they didn't look like they were struggling.
I think the main problem was the living conditions, it is very hot here heat indexs over 110, and the water bowels were full of mice.
The mice wanted water, jumped in, and drowned. I would imagine that it takes a bit of cleaning to keep ahead of them. May also be that he was poisoning the mice, they seek water, and die immediately when they drink. Daily dead mice would be a fact of life in some areas. Could be he was lazy or overwhelmed, also. I would still like to hear what he has to say.
So...11 dogs of 200 were placed, the rest go into lock-down in facilities more urban and sanitized, and undoubtedly more screamingly horrifying by canine sensibilities. From the frying pan to the fire with the lot of them. I wish the little mites well. Poor little things. At least one person cared about them enough that he could not say no. I still wish his side of the story was available, but he is most likely to call it a day, put in a couple of horse corrals, and forget about all the poor abandoned dogs in his area. The system will deal with them, for better or worse. Seeing all those dogs in the video, I am betting "worse" is their lot. Poor little mites.
It's my understanding that they are have jack russell rescue groups for this state and surrounding state help.
Why is it that if this had been a puppymill people would be happy that the dog were helped, but being that it is a horder that could have some mental problem, or was just overwlem (sp), you are being neg.
The animals are going to be helped, that is the whole point. they will be spayed or neutered as most were not. They will be adopted out to home that can give them induvidal attention. which has to be better then just staying in a cage all day.
Maybe. I tend to read between the lines. I don't believe anything President Bush says, either, but obviously lots of people do. Just because some people say their way is better, doesn't make it true. I think a lot of folks just do what serves themselves best, and they have to make it sound good. I'm betting some "adoption fees" are being pocketed on those dogs...compared to buying a puppy, and all the things that can go wrong there, they may still be a good deal.
I don't believe most things either. But I know here in texas thing have to be really bad for them to be awarded the dogs. There was a vet here that starved her horse and still got them back.
it was also report that they had been working with her (the dog lady) for several years, and she just couldn't fix it.
