I was out shopping for a new computer today and I left the kids at home with my grandaddy. (shopping is much quicker that way and i know exactly what i am looking for, so i didn't want to take forever) I got a call from grandaddy.. "Where are you?" I said "Staples." He says "COME HOME!" I was afraid he had had a heart attack or something..
But what did happen is that Sidney (my 6 year old daughter) stepped on a board with a nail in it and it went almost all the way through her toe! You could see the tip of the nail just under the skin on the opposite side of her toe. It was in there so deep that it was really hard for my grandaddy to pull it out.
So we have a dr. appt. at 2 so that she can get tetanus shots and whatever else they need to do. Poor girlie. She is tough as hell though. Sid's punk rock!
You guys won't believe this. I took her to the doctor yesterday and he looked at it really fast and said it is healing beautifully and she can stop taking her meds and let it heal on its own. YAY!
THEN she came come and was playing outside at the playground.. And we heard a bloodcurdling scream, the kind that only means pain and that causes even neighbors to run to the scene... And sure enough, she had been looking for insects and had lifted up a big paver stone with one hand and dropped it on the SAME TOE! Well, it made a pretty good cut, a big chunk off the side of that poor toe. So we are continuing to do the epsom salt soaks. I am not going to keep with the antibiotics unless it looks to be getting infected, because they are strong ones and though she is eating yogurt, I don't want to add a yeast infection to her problems.
